Dr. Richard Zumwalt is a highly experienced neuropsychologist specializing in cognitive and emotional evaluations and therapy for individuals, first responders, and professionals. With over two decades of expertise, he is trusted by public safety agencies and medical professionals across Southern California. Dr. Zumwalt combines advanced diagnostic tools with compassionate care to help patients achieve their mental health goals

Law Enforcement Career

Academic and Clinical Roles
- Provided individual and group therapy at College Hospital for high-risk, chronically mentally ill patients across all age groups.
- Founded LEAD Recovery Center, serving as Clinical and Program Director, focusing on substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders.
- Served as Clinical Advisor for Hired Power, offering national and international transition services for substance abuse and mental health disorders.
- Taught and coached at community colleges, including Orange Coast College, Santa Ana College, and Golden West College.

Neuropsychology Practice
- Completed PhD in Psychology from Northcentral University, with post-doctoral training in Clinical Neuropsychology at Fielding Graduate University.
- Provides adult and geriatric neuropsychological assessments for traumatic brain injury, addiction, neurodegenerative brain diseases, and neurodevelopmental disorders at Southern California Neuropsychology Group.
- Offers psychological evaluations, psychotherapy, and pre-employment psychological evaluations for law enforcement as a California Police Officers Standards and Training (POST) approved psychological evaluator.
- Specializes in trauma, anxiety, depression, and addictions, providing therapy, assessments, and annual mental wellness check-ins for first responders.
